Booking timing
Stampede is the week Calgary hotels fill. The hotel publishes no Stampede-specific rate. The two practical rules are simple: ask early, and give the desk a second-choice room type in the notes. A Family Suite with its mini kitchen cuts the cost of feeding a family for ten days of fair food. The themed Cowboy Suite exists for exactly this week.
Why stay 15 km out
Hotels within walking distance of Stampede Park are the most expensive and the first to sell out. A hotel with free parking near Deerfoot Trail puts you one drive away, keeps the car available for a day trip to Banff or Drumheller in the middle of the week, and gives children a waterpark for the hours when the grounds are too hot.
