Privacy

Short version: no cookies, no analytics, no advertising trackers. The only personal information this site collects is what you type into a room request or an email, and it is used to answer that request.

Who is responsible

Deerfoot Trail Stays, the independent site at deerfoottrailstays.com, reachable at hello@deerfoottrailstays.com. Personal information is handled in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What is not collected

  • This site sets no cookies.
  • No analytics, counters, heatmaps or advertising pixels are installed.
  • No social media widgets are embedded.
  • No card details, ID documents or dates of birth: the desk never asks for them.

Who sees it

Some of these providers process data outside Canada, including in the United States. Nobody receives your details for marketing, and nothing is sold.

Google Maps

On the home page the map stays switched off until you press "Load the Google map". On the getting here page the map is part of the page and loads as you scroll to it. Either way it is served by Google, which receives your IP address and may set cookies under its own policy. Links marked "Open in Google Maps" or "Directions" take you to Google's site.

How long it is kept

Requests and emails are kept while the desk is handling the request and any stay that follows, and deleted no later than 24 months after your last message. Server logs are kept briefly for security and then rotated out.

Your rights

  • Ask what the desk holds about you, and receive a copy.
  • Ask for a correction.
  • Ask for deletion. Requests that never became a booking are deleted on request.
  • Withdraw consent to emails at any time by replying "stop".

Write to hello@deerfoottrailstays.com. If the answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

The site is not aimed at children, and room requests must come from an adult.

Pulling in for a night? Ask the desk to check a room

Four fields are enough to start; the rest is optional. The desk checks availability and the current rate with the hotel's reservations or a booking partner and answers by email. This is a request, not a booking: no card details, nothing charged. If a request becomes a confirmed stay, the hotel or the booking partner pays this site a commission — how that works.

Request received. The desk answers by email, usually within one working day.
