Parking · the reason many people stay here

Parking, fuel and the lot

Parking is complimentary — the hotel says so on its event pages, its Travel Alberta listing marks free parking, and its seniors package lists free parking among the inclusions. Everything else about the lot has to be read from a map.

What is not published

  • The number of spaces, and whether any are covered or underground
  • Rules for trucks, trailers, motorhomes and oversized vehicles
  • Electric-vehicle charging on site
  • Plug-ins for block heaters
  • Whether overnight parking is limited to registered guests

If any of these matter, write them in the notes field of a room request: "pickup with a 7 m trailer", "EV, need a charger nearby", "need a plug". The desk will ask the hotel and tell you the answer before you book.

Fuel within sight

Google Maps shows a Flying J Travel Center and a Shell station on the far side of Barlow Trail SE, directly across from the hotel. For drivers that is the most practical fact on this page: you can fill up on the way out without rejoining traffic. Opening hours and prices are not something this guide tracks; check the stations' own listings.

Winter in the lot

Calgary winters bring snow, cold snaps and the occasional chinook thaw that turns everything to slush overnight. Plan for:

  1. 1

    Brush and scraper

The car will be under snow in the morning more often than not between November and March.

  2. 2

    Morning time

Add fifteen minutes before an early flight for clearing the car and the slower drive on Deerfoot.

  3. 3

    Road reports

Alberta's official road-condition service is 511 Alberta, at 511.alberta.ca, with cameras and travel advisories.

  4. 4

    Footwear

Parking lots get icy. Shoes with grip, even for the short walk to the door.

Leaving the car for the day

Because downtown is about 20 km away, many guests drive into the city. If you plan to leave the car at the hotel and take Calgary Transit instead, check whether that is acceptable when you check in. Google Maps lists a transit stop at 114 Avenue SE and 35 Street SE, a short walk away.

The case for the lot

A downtown hotel puts you within walking distance of restaurants and makes you pay to store the vehicle. This hotel does the reverse. For a road trip with a loaded car, a family with car seats, or an early start towards the mountains, the trade usually favours the free lot.

Pulling in for a night? Ask the desk to check a room

Four fields are enough to start; the rest is optional. The desk checks availability and the current rate with the hotel's reservations or a booking partner and answers by email. This is a request, not a booking: no card details, nothing charged. If a request becomes a confirmed stay, the hotel or the booking partner pays this site a commission — how that works.

Request received. The desk answers by email, usually within one working day.
