Security checkpoint hours at YYC
The airport publishes live wait times and opening hours for its security checkpoints. On 31 October 2026 it listed:

For a 6 a.m. domestic departure, the checkpoint opens at 4. Working backwards with the light-traffic drive time and the time you need to return a rental car or park, the alarm goes off early whichever hotel you choose.
The shuttle question
The hotel's site does not mention an airport shuttle, and Google's hotel panel listed the shuttle as not offered when we looked. YYC's own advice is that many hotels run shuttles and travellers should contact the hotel from the information desk to check. Assume you need a car, a taxi or a ride-share, and ask the desk if you want to be sure.
Car rental
According to YYC, several car rental companies operate right outside the terminal building. Picking up at the airport and driving to the hotel is the simplest arrangement for a south Calgary itinerary. The airport also sells pre-booked parking online; its parking line is (403) 735-1500.
Arriving late
Flights from the east often land late in the evening. The hotel says its front desk is available 24/7. A late arrival is easier when the desk knows it is coming: put the flight time in the notes field of your request.
Leaving early: the hotel side
- The Mohave Grill opens at 7 a.m. every day; for earlier departures, the café opens at 9:30 a.m. and does not help.
- The waterpark opens at 7 a.m. and the gym is open around the clock, which helps on a delayed flight or a long layover.
- Check-out time is not published; ask, especially for an afternoon flight.
When a downtown or airport hotel is better
If you are arriving by air, staying one night and flying out again without a car, a hotel at the airport removes the drive altogether. If your days are downtown, a downtown hotel removes the commute. This hotel makes sense when the trip already involves a car and the south or east of the city.
